The First World War (WWI) was one of the first wars in Europe, which began on July 28, 1914 and ended in 1919. Artists, writers, etc., are witnesses of an abundance of devastation in their time. period. By the end of the war, 9 million soldiers had been killed, some were injured for life, and some suffered psychological trauma (History, World War I). The First World War was one of the deadliest wars in history. The First World War had a considerable impact on artists and/or literary culture in Europe. Some of the main reasons why World War I had a massive impact on artists and/or literary culture in Europe are that people began to question traditions, thoughts and beliefs, as new developments changed the way people think, their subconscious, etc. I mentioned that by the end of the war, almost 9 million people were dead. Despite this, artists and writers like Auguste Macke, Franz Marc and Umberto Boccioni were dead. Several other artists and writers were seriously injured.
