  • Essay / God wants all men to be saved and come to...

This article will defend what Christians should understand by 1Timothy 2:3-4: “This is good and pleasing to God our Savior, who desires that everyone to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. This scripture has been interpreted in many ways by many theologians, but I will defend it with the knowledge and understanding of what this scripture means. (1) God desires all men to be saved because “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promises, as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9 NIV). Keep in mind that the patience of our Lord means salvation. (2) “I do not like the death of one who dies, says the Lord God: therefore turn and live (Ezekiel 18:32 KJV). » (3) “Whoever comes for me, I will certainly not be cast out. (John 6:37 KJV) Because God loves us, His desire is that we be saved. Jesus loved us so much that he gave his life so that we could have the tree of life. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16 NAB). God did not love the world, so why would saint prosper by thinking that only the elect will be saved or why would Saint Aquinas and Saint Augustine think that predestination and salvation are for some and others are lost, what good would it do to obey the holy spirit if the elect were already chosen for salvation. Jesus had the sins of the whole world on his shoulders, God made Jesus a sin who knew no sin so that we could become the righteousness of God in him (2 Corinthians 5:21 NIV). Prosper of Aquitaine only says the chosen or saved because God wanted them to be saved, God had no respect for the person. God gratu...... middle of paper ......d “Do not think that I have come to destroy but to fulfill (Matthew 5:17 NIV). Jesus came to improve the law for us. Let us therefore draw near to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16 KJV). God takes no pleasure in the death of sinners, he wants them to become. If someone dies and has not yet received Jesus Christ into their life and repented of all their sins, then it is too late. “For if we sin willfully after having received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sin (Hebrews 10:26-27 NIV). Jesus says to repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. God wants all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth, the truth is Jesus Christ, he is the way of truth and life. No one comes to the father except through him (John 4:16 NIV).
