  • Essay / Maslow's Personality - 1532

When Shelia was younger, she developed a sense of belonging to her family. She was loved as a child, and this helped establish the love and esteem she carried within herself. In the hierarchy of needs, she would have passed the first stage of psychological needs as her family set the tone for her and the second stage of security needs, she would have provided a stable and safe home. They addressed the needs for law, order, and structure, which are also security needs (Feist, Feist, & Roberts, 2013). Shelia wanted to be part of her own family and she wanted to belong to someone else. After accepting love and belonging, she began to feel accepted by the people around her.
