This article will identify which of the Kolb learning styles suits me best and why I think so. He will also give some examples from my past and present to support these conclusions. After determining which learning styles suit me best and completing an inventory exercise, I concluded that I learn best by using audio and visual techniques in the learning process. I agree with everything this exercise has highlighted. I never knew that these styles were the way I learned. I've also included examples of how I see the use and benefits of these learning styles in my career. My Learning Style After reviewing Kolb's learning styles, I decided that the style that works best for me is a cross between accommodating and divergent. The online Kolb Learning Inventory, which I took, gave me a roughly equal score in both areas. It was amazing to see how accurately these styles described the way I learn. The description associated with these styles was exactly how I perceived myself. Accommodative individuals are individuals whose strengths lie in carrying out plans and experiments and engaging in new experiences. They take risks and excel in situations requiring quick decisions and adaptations. In situations where a theory or plan doesn't match the facts, they tend to discard it and try something else. They often solve problems instinctively through trial and error, relying heavily on others for information. They are easy to get along with people but sometimes seen as impatient. Their training is often in practical areas such as business. They have a preference for professions such as teaching, marketing or sales.
