ATM hacking has become increasingly prevalent in today's society. The more technology improves, the more fraud there is. The United States alone has been the victim of ATM hacks over the past decade. There have been countless ATM hacks, resulting in billions of dollars in losses and innocent people now in debt. Hacking ATMs has proven to be really effective and has become a major success for criminals. In the article "Hackers Devise Wireless Methods to Steal ATM Users' PINs," author Jordan Robertson explains how ATM hacking has had a major effect on the United States and American citizens . User PINs,” Robertson explains how the effects of ATM hacking were the quickest way for criminals to receive money. He explains how high-tech criminals have become so familiar with stealing vending machines, to the point of embedding fake keypads and card readers into gas pumps in order to steal confidential information. Robertson also talks more about how scammers even apply for tech support-related jobs so they can learn how to access personal data and other important information. Robertson said these scammers prey on businesses and individuals who use ATMs. Robertson says the U.S. Secret Service estimated annual losses from ATM fraud at more than $1 billion in 2008. In summary, he says they are taking advantage of wireless ATMs and other card readers. cards to escape data theft. The fact that so much money was stolen from these ATMs only creates bigger problems for the United States. This has left many people in debt, unable to balance or pay large bills and other things.
