Psycho cybernetics 2000Psycho cybernetics is one of the most motivational novels I have read to date. It's a bit repetitive, but the author really gets his point across. There are many examples that show the different areas of self-confidence and self-confidence. There are examples of how other people's opinions of you can affect your opinion of yourself, both positively and negatively. If someone has been belittling your knowledge and potential since you were growing up, it's almost impossible not to rub off on you in some way in your life. I liked the way the book progressed from chapter to chapter. My favorite part of the book was the chapters on goal setting and goal achievement. I have seen many books on how to set difficult but achievable goals. I have never read a book that will actually help you “achieve your goals” until this one was assigned to me. The six-step process that will help you maximize your progress toward your goals really helped me. I felt like that was the most important part of the book for me because I could relate each step to what I do on the soccer field to try to improve. The first step is to focus on your action plan every day. If I make a few plays here and there, I won't reach my maximum potential and I won't improve as much as I should. Step 2 is to set up a self-monitoring system. For this stage, I always ask myself after training if I gave my all. I know if I did it or not. If I didn't give my all in every play, I know I feel guilty. Step 3 is to enter into a contract with friends and colleagues. Even though I never actually signed a piece of paper with another person or specifically made an oral contract and signed on it, I made a commitment to my teammates that not only me, but all of us would give everything we could. It is one of the biggest motivators to help you achieve your goals. If you share a commitment with another person, you don't want to disappoint them. There were many days during the season where I was tired and really didn't want to go to practice, but I knew I couldn't let my teammates down..
