    Emotions can be very strong and very weak during these periods of progression in dementia. Emotions can be dangerous for those who cannot handle these ups and downs. Emotional symptoms of stressors become easily agitated, frustrated and moody, feel overwhelmed, lonely, worthless and depressed, and avoid others. Depression can break the spirit of managing the anxiety and stress of caregiving. There is a link between increased caregiver burden and depression. Depression will manifest before death, if death occurs in the client. (Strong, JV and Mast, BT, 2013) The behavioral impact may be caused by the change in the mental health of the caregiver. The caregiver may exhibit symptoms of anxiety and stress related to caring for the client with dementia.
