    Coming into this course, I had little to no familiarity with social construction theory and its relationship to race, gender, and sexuality. Over the past eight weeks, my mind has opened in many different ways. By now viewing race, gender, and sexuality as social constructs, I fully understand how society plays a role in shaping the lives of countless individuals. Looking back, I believe that my life has been strongly impacted by social construction, both within my family and among my peers. However, looking at things from a new perspective, I am convinced that I now have more control over the societal factors that I choose to allow to influence my life. If there's one thing I've learned throughout this course, it's to be skeptical; We don’t always “go with the flow,” it’s natural to question things.
