Essay / Memories of my first day of 8th grade
8th grade. It symbolizes the beginning of the end, but also the beginning of a new beginning. I woke up, stretching to turn off my buzzing alarm. It was my first day of 8th grade, but it was also my last year before high school. I glanced out the window, watching the big, bright sun rise in the dull morning sky, admiring the colors created by the rising sun. I was brought out of my thoughts when my mother called my brother to let him know he would be late if he stayed in bed any longer. As the clock marked 7:50. I stood up from my bed placing one foot after the other stopping at my dresser to put on my outfit which was carefully placed on top, exactly as I had left it on the night before. Being satisfied with my appearance, I walk down the stairs, grab my bag and place both straps over my shoulder before heading out the front door. Say no to plagiarism. I walked a little more until I noticed where all the 8th graders were going to line up. There were countless people, most of them running around, passing me by only a few inches. I felt so out of place. I felt so alone, like I was placed in the middle of nowhere and all I wanted to do was go home. After a few more steps, I arrived at the line where the 8th graders would gather. I heard my name being called several times, but I couldn't tell if anyone was calling my name because of all the talking and laughing around me. I heard a familiar voice call my name and this time more clearly. I turned around as a smile spread across my face when I happily saw my best friend. My racing heart returned to its normal rhythm as I saw a group of more familiar faces. Knowing I wasn't the only one nervous because of the looks on everyone's faces made me feel a lot better..
