There are consequences to what you put into your body and they will ultimately be perceptible through our outward physical appearance. For example, if we choose to regularly eat mostly unhealthy fast foods, we are sure to gain a few pounds and our skin will reflect the amount of fat consumed. According to Cornell University's Eating Issues and Body Image Concerns, today's modern society is preoccupied with self-image and attempts to change one's body shape and size through through a diet. Their research indicates otherwise. Unfortunately, dieting is not a long-term solution to maintaining a slim figure. Dieting becomes very harmful to the body and people can later develop eating disorders as their diet becomes more rigid and extreme. Eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder are influenced by our internal debates about the relevance between diet and our body size. Furthermore, food has an aesthetic impact on our skin, hair, nails, muscle mass and bones. Being strong and fit all starts with a healthy, protein-rich diet that regularly fuels your body with energy and prepares you for muscle growth. Certain foods are rich in nutrients and minerals necessary for healthy growth of the body. For example, an egg can improve your appearance from every angle. Being the most widely used protein food, it creates lean and strong muscles. Shiitake mushrooms are full of minerals such as zinc and copper, which lead to potential weight loss, help with acne and nail discoloration. There are countless foods we can eat that can improve our appearance and that make up part of our
