In both stories it is evident that the authors placed emphasis on the effect of family relations, i.e. either the way in which a child can be affected by his parents' decision, which is how parents can literally influence a child's success. Therefore, with this in mind, it is equally important to note that this essay will develop the family relationships by comparing and contrasting the two stories. To begin with, in both stories it is clear that the feeling of parenthood has been portrayed perfectly. In evaluating the first story, "The Fences," it is wise to agree that Troy, as a father, endured the responsibility of providing for his family, he followed suit. He left his family, which is under the leadership of his father; only to be crowned with a sense of fatherly responsibility too, since the time had come for him to pass that on. On the other hand, Mom bears the burden of protecting her children and she is happy to receive her daughter Dee, who is now successful thanks to her mother-oriented education. It can be argued that culture is not the only thing that can propel a person towards their brilliant destination in life. On the contrary, culture cannot hold it back to form a group towards the anticipated life goal when the will is positive. In the fences, the major narrative is built on the despair of the characters when it comes to everyday use; we clearly see a path of hope for the entire party.
