Civil RightsCivil rights activities in the United States date back to the early 19th century. This does not, however, limit the start date of these initiatives, but only provides an overview of when civil rights initiatives began to have an effective impact on policymaking. The initiatives have been diverse in nature, ranging from women's empowerment to emancipation and freedom from racial slavery. The push for these initiatives was characterized by social protests and civil wars and their impact on social life could therefore be ignored. This article seeks to explore the impacts of civil rights initiatives on immigration. The focus is on how these initiatives have shaped current public policymaking and whether these initiatives will continue to influence public policymaking in the days to come. The paper then concludes by describing how these initiatives have affected the life of an average American citizen. President Obama's second-term victory speech also asserted that the United States is strong because of the diversity of its people and culture. A good percentage of the American population is made up of immigrants from other countries. Almost every country in the world is represented in one way or another in the United States. In addition to this, there are immigrants between the different states of America and therefore immigration is an important aspect in politics and decision-making. In the last century and before, immigrants from Europe and other parts of the world entered America. However, immigrants contribute to the growth of the economy. There are certain jobs that Americans don't want to do. When these immigrants cross the border, they bring their expertise into the labor market and fill these jobs. In this way, they contribute greatly to the production process and contribute to the growth of the American economy. If these immigrants did not accept these jobs, production might be very expensive because producers would be forced to use expensive machinery. Some immigrants are highly skilled and their entry into the United States gives them the opportunity to positively convey the society in which they live.References
