  • Essay / Military drones used for terrorism prevention - 720

All over the world, every day, many terrorist activities occur. Many of them occur in areas where communities of people live. But how is the military supposed to stop these terrorists? Now the military has started using drones to stop these savages from causing more damage. Drones are unmanned aerial vehicles used to both monitor and target specified suspects. They can either be flown by someone on the ground or programmed to follow a certain flight path. Since the early 2000s, the military began using drones to track and kill these terrorists. At first they were only used as an "eye in the sky"; monitor terrorists and send live images back to the military. But since 2004, the military has started using these drones not only for surveillance purposes, but also as hunting and killing mechanisms. In turn, due to the increase in terrorist activities, especially in Yemen, Pakistan and Afghanistan, drones are becoming the solution for the military as they are both very practical and very effective. Due to technological evolution and advancement, the military is able to use many types of drones for different “jobs”. Usually, drones are used when manned flight is too dangerous. They use precision strikes to target and kill suspected terrorists while providing live footage and surveillance for up to 17 hours (“drones”). Two drones in particular are very common in the military to perform these tasks. The MQ-1B Predator drone is used in “medium altitude, long endurance” missions in which it typically provides imagery and other resourceful information the military may need (Levs). While the MQ-9 Reaper drones are used in the middle of paper...... by the military to prevent terrorists from committing further wrongdoing and are expected to remain in use for times to come. Ultimately, the use of drones for military purposes is expected to continue due to their effectiveness and convenience. Not only do they help in times when manned flights are too dangerous, but they are also the reason why, through surveillance, the US military was able to send men to bin Laden's compound and ensure that most of them come out in good condition during the completion of the mission. they were sent to finish. Additionally, they are constantly evolving with new technologies, making them an even more lethal, yet effective way to expel terrorists without harming others. Thus, thanks to technological advancements and evolution, drones are expected to remain in military use as they are efficient, effective and very practical for the military..
