This is because nurses practice with responsibility and accountability. Nurses are trustworthy and have integrity. Accountability and responsibility are of the utmost importance in nursing practice and can often mean the difference between a patient's life and death. Additionally, nurses must be responsible not only to patients, but also to each other and to themselves. We can't be afraid to stand up for what's right and express our concerns when faced with a situation that makes us uncomfortable. Nurses need to trust their instincts: if it doesn't feel right, it probably isn't right. It is better to say something and be wrong than to remain silent and allow a patient or colleague to be wrong.
