  • Essay / Critically Reflecting Group Work on...

IntroductionIn the health care setting, providing services to clients typically involves collaboration between registered nurses (RNs) and other team members multidisciplinary to meet customer needs (Doyle, 2008; Quartier, 2013). Before facing this real work environment, nursing students must acquire collaboration skills and become accustomed to them during their studies. In the Mental Health for Practice unit, students had the opportunity to develop collaboration skills in an assigned group project by developing a YouTube presentation to complete the task. This think piece will discuss the process of group formation and the selection of roles for each member. Relationships within the group will be explored as well as my own self-awareness after completing the project. It is time for each member to express their thoughts before other members try to express their ideas. Once these implicit rules were displayed, the next part was to present the main problem that occurred during the process of finishing the group task. Although completing an individual task was not a difficult challenge in this group work, combining each member's material for recording on YouTube proved much more difficult. One person assigned to undertake this task had difficulty collecting the workload of others. Complications arose when members attempted to email their coins. Due to the fact that it was difficult to send the recording files as a whole, the members decided to solve the problem by sending the files in parts to the person responsible for editing..
