Essay / The Age Level in Lord Of The Flies By William Golding
This story shows how human beings need structure and rules to survive in this world. Ralph wanted structure and rules that would allow them to survive on the island until they were rescued. It had a system for everything from a fire to being rescued to a bathroom system. Jack was the wild component that killed civilization. He became obsessed with hunting and he loved having no structure or rules in his life. This caused him to lose all his human instincts on the island and commit acts unthinkable in the real world. At the end, when the boys break down and cry because they found out what they did, it's one of the best endings. This shows how the theme was actually used in the story. It showed the consequences of lack of civilization and what our world would really be like if there was no structure. It also gave the boys some reality about what they were actually doing and the things they could never accept.
