In the middle of the night I was sound asleep, until I experienced this strange sensation all over my mind that made me feel like I was being watched and woke up. When I sat up, I noticed an average looking man standing in the darkness of my room. Scared, I grabbed my blanket, moved closer to the wall, and followed the man with my eyes wide. Finally, he made his way to my ajar closet door. I ran to turn on the light faster than a wimp beating the tough guy at school. Unlike most people, I went straight to the closet door; when I opened the door, I found nothing. It's easy to assume that I didn't sleep too much that night. I'm not sure what happened during that confusing night, but I think the man I saw was a spirit who, for some reason, wanted to see me. I have never seen the man since, but I will always remember meeting him as I lay down to fall asleep for the night. Despite what skeptics say, spirits, or ghosts, exist and can have a negative impact on the lives of ordinary people. After a person dies, he can continue to live in his subtle body. The subtle body, soul, mind or emotions, refers to every part of a human being, excluding the person's physical body (What are ghosts). The person can then wander the earth after death. “Ghosts are people who have died at some point but have not completely crossed the border” (What to Do). To avoid the terrible reality of being stuck on earth for eternity, one can participate in certain religious affairs or simply perform a few good deeds. The chances of becoming a ghost, or spirit, will decrease if one: does "a spiritual practice, has a low ego, or has fewer personality flaws" (What Are Ghosts).
