These designs all have a bodice, ruffled skirt, the aspects that are fitted are the innovative techniques for the bodice and the center panel of the skirt and back. Design features that do not change throughout the design. are the line and direction of the skirt, the hem of the ruffles are wavy because they represent the flow of water. The use of lines in the bodice gives the optical illusion that the outfit has a curvy body emphasizing feminine curves. And with the skirt and the wave of the ruffles, it emphasizes the small waist. The strap will only have aesthetic appeal, no functional quality as it does not hold the dress up, it will simply hang over the shoulders to draw attention to the bare shoulder and the harmonies with the dress. The use of beads gives balance. The original design began with a simple bodice with beading and feathered sleeves to soften the swan features. The original design is symmetrical but there is no balance between the bodice and the skirt. There is no connection between the center panel design and the bodice or the idea of the swan. This is a weakness because there is no harmony. A strength noted is the choice of color, the advanced and receding gradients found in the ruffles and the dress as a whole is a strength because it helps orient the viewer. However, the middle panel does not correspond to the concept of “swan transformation”, it is random. The sleeves were changed in the second model because it was difficult to find individual feather wishes, as I wanted to make the sleeves from scratch. The functional aspects of this model are the finish of the back, this design has an invisible zipper, which for a bodice like this is not suitable and difficult to be completely hidden. The MTP makes no line direction leading the train of vision toward the rear of the body. This is the strong point of the MTP because it allows you to admire the view and concentrate on the body. The design highlights are the use of color with harmony between the design, concept and essence of MTP. The use of beads is affective as they catch the light reflecting the moonlight on the lake as the swan princess transforms. Finally overall, the 3rd design is perfect because it is balanced and the colors harmonize within the design. I am very happy with this design. as it has a new lacing method for me and the use of trapunto and the free form painting on the ruffles and the silk painting on the center panel as well as the beautiful eye catching sequins. The design and appearance of the straps are harmonized with the entire garment. Overall the dress is simple and elegant, a very graceful design.
