    One of the many controversial topics in the United States is gun control. It is clearly written in the Second Amendment to the Constitution that the people shall have the right to bear arms. Recently; however, people have abused these firearms and harmed others with them. It is for this reason that the government attempts to regulate the sale, distribution and possession of firearms. Some of the arguments made by politicians are simply whether or not government has the right to be able to control the effectiveness of public policy to regulate guns. The importance of gun control as a health issue is a necessity. . “Each year, the United States has just over 8,000 gun murders” (Wilblin 1) “The suicide rate in the United States is 12 per 100,000, and half of these suicides are due to firearms.” guns” (Wilblin 1) Guns began to take over many people’s lives. By regulating gun control, the government could potentially save many lives. Thinking about all the recent disasters that have happened, Virginia Tech, Aurora CO, Tucson AZ, it is possible that all of these tragic events were avoided with a stricter gun policy. The number of lives lost due to the use of a firearm is endless. Regardless of the type of firearm used, these weapons are not a necessity. Having a concealed carry permit means the shooter can have the advantage of surprising the victim, all because the gun is out of sight. For this reason, guns are more dangerous than they normally would be. Open carry is a policy that allows a loaded gun to be carried in public, as long as it is holstered. “Firearms are also acceptable, as long as they are placed in the middle of a paper. Weapons are made for war situations, so they should be left to our military going through war situations. I believe that the possession of certain weapons should be prohibited.
