Chapter-11.1 Introduction Women's entrepreneurship has long been associated with concepts such as female empowerment and emancipation. It is also considered important in improving the quality of life of women in developing countries. Entrepreneurship is increasingly seen as an essential means of growth, increased production, innovative ideas and job creation, and it is widely accepted as an essential aspect of economic dynamism. Transforming ideas into economic opportunities is the key question of entrepreneurship. The past shows that economic progress has been generated by people with entrepreneurial and innovative abilities, eager to exploit opportunities and willing to take risks. The role of entrepreneurship and an entrepreneurial culture has often been underestimated in economic and social development. Over the years, however, it has become increasingly clear that entrepreneurship contributes to the country's economic development. However, the majority of businesses were owned by men. In other words, it was not common to see women owning businesses, especially in developing countries like India. The idea and practice of female entrepreneurship is a recent concept. Until the 1980s, very little was known about female entrepreneurship, both in practice and in research. The whole phenomenon of women's entrepreneurship and women-led organizations is just a development of the 1980s. Entrepreneurship has been defined differently according to changing trends in socio-economic reality. Nearly 50% of the world's population is made up of women and they cover around two-thirds of total working time. Due to men's low income, married women often bear a double responsibility to compensate for the family's needs.
