  • Essay / Space Exploration - 948

Space exploration has been the subject of discussion for a long time and we have made great progress in this area. It all starts with the Cold War and the two major world powers, the United States and the Soviet Union. The competition between the two will soon move to space as each side seeks to prove its superiority, resulting in the space race. Thanks to their rivalry, we ended up with a large amount of achievements, more knowledge in astronautics and aeronautics, and an overall gain in technology. We have developed rockets, satellites, space probes, solar panels and much more. Along with this, we have accomplished many things like sending a dog to space and a man to the moon and much more, all thanks to the space race. The space race was a period filled with historic moments, moments such as the USSR's launch of the first man-made object into space, Sputnik 1, on October 4, 1957. space was the result of competition between the United States and the Soviet Union due to the Cold War. Overall, the space race has been very beneficial in gaining knowledge and making achievements. We have experienced great moments like that of the USSR which launched the dog Laika, the first animal to be in space, on Sputnik 2, followed by the United States which launched Explorer 1, the first American satellite to reach orbit. With Luna 1, the first artificial object to orbit the Sun, Luna 2, the first artificial object to crash on the Moon, Tiros 1, the first functional meteorological satellite, then Discoverer XIV, the first spy satellite equipped with of a camera. Overall, there were a lot of great moments and a lot of great people, like Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space. There was also Alan B. Shepard, America's first in space, Valentina Tereshkova, the first...... middle of paper...... part that carried people and sometimes parts, and it was essentially the living quarters. The external tank was the large orange fuel tank. Solid rocket boosters are thin, rocket-shaped boosters designed to lift the rocket out of Earth's gravity. Although there are also forms of unmanned space exploration, unmanned exploration is much safer than manned explorations. It may also be more useful in some cases. Like space probes, you don't need a person to operate it. Also, this is convenient because it does not need air, water, bathroom or food. He also doesn't complain or get bored; it just sends us information. And with rovers like the one on Mars, it doesn't need air or water, it doesn't need rest; he's just doing his job. It's much safer for us and more convenient, although it can't do some things that humans can do..
