  • Essay / A Brief History of Education in Norway - 1451

As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said: "We are students of words: we are shut up in schools, colleges, and recitation halls for ten or fifteen years, and I finally come out with a bag of wind, a memory of words, and I know nothing. I know it's an understatement to say that all teachers do this, but most believe that every student has learned the subjects they teach, when in reality that is not the case. Firstly, I believe that every student has a different way of learning and secondly, I believe that it doesn't matter if it's been taught before or not, it's the job to teach it because they get paid for it. Personal investment reflects the effective results provided by the one teaching the students. In many countries, it is a high priority whether teachers are treated as professionals and whether they also have professional training. In Norway, children have equal rights to education, regardless of their social status, gender and special needs (Education in Norway 5). Knowing how education in Norway developed is a great way to get an idea of how this phenomenon of personal investment relates to the pros and cons of society in that particular era. In the mid-1700s, Norway had only a few people who were able to read and write, but most were illiterate. Thanks to the Church, Norway passed its Education Act in 1739, which helped stabilize the idea of a good education system. The Education Act of 1739 consisted of sixteen chapters, each with its own sections establishing the foundations of education. Like Chapter 1, Section 1-1 implies that "education must be based on fundamental values of the Christian and humanist heritage...... middle of document ...... to be developed."
