Essay / The pros and cons of border security - 1776
Cases involving illegal immigrants are exploding at an unprecedented rate in the United States since the late 1990s. To absolve this case, border security Borders have been strengthened across the country in an effort to reduce the entry of illegal immigrants across the border. These actions include the mass expulsion of illegal immigrants, strengthening national border security and monitoring. This entire initiative has reduced the number of illegal immigrants living in the United States. However, current results have proven that increased enforcement and investment in the current method of border security has had a huge negative impact on the nation. The U.S. government should not invest in or enforce the current method of border security because it prevents rapid growth of the U.S. economy, deprives illegal aliens of their human rights, and, surprisingly, causes an influx of undocumented migrants in the country. . - Above all, increased border security is hampering rapid economic growth in the United States. The entry of illegal immigrants benefited society by increasing the productivity of the U.S. economy. According to Giovanni Peri, economist at the University of Economics, the country's pool of taxpayers is increasing. These immigrants contributed to the country's monetary income through social contributions that cannot be neglected. Stephen Goss, chief actuary for the Social Security Administration, says the presence of illegal workers in the country has brought the Social Security fund nearly $15 billion a year, easing the country's burden to fund the retirement of baby boomers (quoted in Davidson, p. 3). The enforcement of border security measures, which undermines the economic contribution of these undocumented aliens, should be reconsidered as it has added the country to a larger pool of taxpayers who benefit not only the government, but also statewide.
